Meet the Founder

Andreca Johnson: Owner, Founder, and CEO of Beaucoup Beauty

My natural hair growth journey began a little over ten years ago. In the beginning, my hair was very beautiful. It was thick and long, down my back long but over the years my hair began to weaken. It started breaking off and it was no longer as thick as it was prior to receiving relaxers. My hair was in such bad shape, I had to get it cut into a bob to salvage it and make it look decent. At that point, I was a sophomore in college and I was at my wits end with using relaxers on my hair knowing it would only continue to damage it.That’s when I decided to start transitioning back to my natural hair. I wasn’t bold enough to do “the big chop” but I’ve been natural ever since. Over time my hair was growing and growing then it suddenly stopped. Initially, I thought my hair stopped growing because I changed hair products. So I went back to what I was using before but there was still no new growth.

After researching the ingredients that were in those products, I discovered how harmful synthetic ingredients can be. This inspired me to begin researching home remedies for natural hair growth. I applied new things like castor oil, olive oil, and aloe vera to my hair and I saw a significant change, especially after I incorporated Ayurvedic herbs to my regiment. I experimented by concocting various oil blends infused with Ayurvedic Herbs in my kitchen to create my own hair oils. After friends and family began to see my healthy hair growth, they started asking me what I was using. I told them I make my own hair oil so they wanted to give it a try. That led to a few sales of my hair oil and I figured, I need to get this product into the hair of Black women everywhere.

In the spring of 2022, I participated in the Wolfpack Launch U Incubator Cohort at my alma mater, Loyola University New Orleans. This was a four month incubator specifically designed to aid entrepreneurs who recently started their business or for entrepreneurs who wanted to develop their business idea. There was a two week intensive bootcamp that gave all the fellows a crash course in starting a business. Each team was matched with a mentor to give them one on one coaching and guidance along the four month program. I was fortunate enough to have Kyle Burner, Owner and Founder of Feelgoodz Footwear as my mentor. Kyle was always there to answer any questions and suggest solutions to whatever issue that concerned me. His positive feedback and encouragement gave me the confidence I needed to survey dozens of people by myself, in the rain, during Essence Festival weekend.

This led me to becoming a finalist for the pitch competition portion of the incubator. I won non-dilutive seed funding to launch Beaucoup Beauty and I couldn’t be happier. That amazing experience is what led me here. It was the soil I needed to grow the Beaucoup Beauty seedling you see today. I look forward to growing the Beaucoup Beauty community and I am committed to creating natural, safe, and effective haircare products that will instill confidence in Black women and other women of color, empowering them to embrace and showcase their bountiful, beautiful, bold natural hair.
